Last night I had such a dream. It took me a few minutes to realize what was happening, but as the dream was unfolding, I felt like I was the man in the dream but I realized that I was simply representing someone else because my  identity was also separate from the dream. I was a viewer, not a true participant. Also, the dream was in color. There was a man(I later realized He represented Jesus) who was calling on his girlfriend. They had a date, but she called and cancelled it because she was not feeling well. He tried to be gracious and showed up at her apartment with some flowers and a handmade gift. She answered the door dressed only in a thin, skimpy towel. She was obviously expecting someone else, another man, from her enthusiastic but mistaken welcome. He was brokenhearted, depressed and sad. As he turned, the girlfriend's roommate tried to comfort him. He gave her the flowers and then noticed that she had every gift he had given his girlfriend. Obviously the adulterous affair had been going on for a long time. He notice the roommate and shifted his attention toward her.

God explained the dream to me as this: the man represented Jesus. The girlfriend represented the church of today. The roommate represented the lost and unchurched people of today. The church is clearly not doing what God wants them to do. He is about to abandon them and raise up a new bride for himself from the people the church is currently ignoring. God's heart is broken, but He will not be mocked. Jesus told a parable to this same effect. We need to study this parable and get inline with God's desires, not the apathetic and crowd-pleasing attitude of much of today's church. There is a harvest that needs workers and a nation that needs to be discipled.
